Mad March Challenge in Full Swing! Plus some Eats!

So I thought I would do a proper post, since I haven’t really had time to update lately! So go grab a cuppa and sit back and relax this one is a biggin’!!!

In my last post I was a bit winey! Sorry about that! Generally I’m a very happy positive person but I think quitting smoking has knocked me about a bit! So yes about that!

I’ve faltered a couple of times and last weekend included too many drinks and too much smoking but I’m back not smoking again as of Monday! I am proud to say I have not touched a single ciggie! I just keep distracting myself when I have cravings and so far so good. I really just can’t drink alcohol at the moment, it’s too much of a trigger! The next time I will be having a drink will be on my birthday! 15 days to go!

On the fitness front, I have started a challenge on Facebook called Mad March. As the name suggests it runs for the entire month of March! Each week there will be new challenges. This week was Drink 2L of water a day (I do that anyway), eat leafy greens in one meal every day (Do that anyway), have 2 sugar free days (So no added refined sugars, natural sugars are totally fine), complete 2 cardio sessions and 2 strength training sessions. I have successfully completed all challenges this week. The week runs from Friday to Thursday and we are put into teams. My team is Team Orange! So what have I done this week?

My Low intensity workout on Wednesday! Lots of Fat Burning!

I can’t believe that I have done that much nearly 4 hours (5 including tonight) of exercise and 1883 cals burnt! Except when I add up my total calories for the week they come in at 10 575 (Saturday’s drinking disaster totalled me at nearly 2500!)!! EEK! No wonder I only lost 200g this week!! My weight is now 74.7kg. 2.7 kg to go to 1st goal and 4.7 to 2nd!! Pedicure here I come! I’m hoping for a much better result on the scale next week! I should as well because all this exercise is tiring me out ( Plus not going to bed early enough)! So what is on the cards for the upcoming week:

Friday: Rest day

Saturday: Pump class with my trainer!

Sunday: 5K run/walk with a friend.

Monday: Run/walk and strength training

Tuesday:Cardio Boxing

Wednesday: Walk and strength training

Thursday: Cardio Boxing with my sister!

Yes pretty much the same for the next couple of weeks!

This coming weekend is a long weekend! Hooray! I definitely need the sleep! Plus my sister is coming over on Monday to stay. This means I need to sort my spare room out! At the moment it is filled with junk  Items for the Garage sale (which still has a date to be set!!). So this weekend will pretty much be spent tidying that room and working out what to do with all that stuff! I also have floors that are screaming at me to be washed! I am very excited to be having R come over. she recently moved to Darwin, Northern Territory with her new Hubby, S and I had no idea when I would see her next; cos flights are very expensive (I could fly to Bali cheaper)!! So I pick her up from the air port just after lunch and then we go shopping. I think M and P might be joining us as we really need to pick out a bike for P’s 4th birthday and so far we haven’t seen much that excites us! I guess he’ll be happy if it is blue, but I think he’d really like either spiderman or Batman, although he has recently gotten into Ben10 and Power Rangers (God Help me!) recently so we will see! Then that night we will be going out for tea. It will be a celebration of Mine, M’s and P’s birthday’s while R is over. I’m thinking Thai; had a look through the menu for the restaurant near us and have found a couple of options that seem to be slightly healthier, so we shall see! R has a work conference in Geelong so will be back Thursday and will be coming to Cardio Boxing with me! So exciting!

It’s that time again! Thank to the lovely Mumma to be- Jenn for hosting!

So what have I eaten this week? Lots of Green Stuff!! I have tried a few new things thanks to a couple of healthy eating mags and some recipes on line. Plus I tried Kale this week! Very exciting stuff. I quite like it! It’s pretty expensive though so will be a once in while thing!

The vegie felfal burger! So yummy but take a long time to cook! 5 minutes each side, might put them in the oven next time!

The vegie felfal burger! So yummy but take a long time to cook! 5 minutes each side, might put them in the oven next time!

The Veggie Felfal burger recipe can be found here. I added extra  bread crumbs because I thought the mix was too wet. I think in the future I would drain the chickpeas but reserve the liquid and add only about half of it. The cooking time was lengthy too. My mix made 6 burgers at 140 cals each. I cooked the rest up for left overs but they tasted so good that I ate another one (oops!) and used onhe for my lunch today that I only have 3 left, most likely that will be tea tonight.

The kale chips I’m going to have to work on, mine were very salty, any tips or ideas for flavour combo’s would be great!

The salmon salad was really delish but  had more cals in it than I normally have for a dinner (500ish)! In saying that though I was soooo full after. The recipe i adapted from this one. But would love to make the original.

Sorry about the quality of [ictures, I really need to go back to using my little camera!

I had a couple of proud Mumma moments this week too! P brought home a picture he's drawn at childcare and he has started to draw people! We all look round and have sticks for legs and arms, but we have smiles and noses and eyes! I'll take some pic's and post them next week. He also started reciting numbers 1-5 in Italian this week and can sing 3 Italian songs! His pronounciation is excellent! So Proud!

My crazy P! Love him to bits!

So goals for the upcoming week:

1. Sleep – I’m not getting enough and we all know that to help lose weight we should be getting at least 8 hours! I never do 6-7 is my average. So every week night I will be getting into bed at 9:50 and lights off at 10. Especially the mornings I am up at 5 to workout, I really need my sleep!

2. Shopping/Menu Planning – I need to plan meals for March so that will be done this week too! Have so many new recipes I wanna try!

3. Exercise – I really wanna keep doing 6 workouts a week at least for March, i just wanna see what my results will be! My 6 week block of Cardio Boxing started on Tuesday and finishes up on the 11th of April. Really want those scales and cm to go down! Wish me luck

Do you have any goals for March?

Lastly I thought I’d leave you with a pic of me1 I got lots of positive comments on my necklace yeasterday, so thought I’d share. HAve great Long weekend Peeps!

  1. Wow Mel that sounds amazing makes me feel lazy with exercise and my meals!

  2. After reading all this, I think I need to have a lie down to recover – you’re doing brilliantly well!

  3. Congrats on quitting smoking! :) It is very hard — I’ve been there! Alcohol was always a trigger for me too! Good luck!!
